Encounter: A skeleton bard that killed his friends and used their skulls for his bone xylophone

Item: the Unabridged Dictionary of Hell: While equipped, the player can speak Abyssal and gains advantage on any speech checks made against demonic entities. However, it is rather heavy, and makes the player look like a total nerd, so while it is in the player’s inventory, they must take a -1 to both dexterity and charisma rolls.
(Twist to be decided by DM before use: it was published by demons and is actually completely and purposely incorrect and the demons go along with it because they think it’s funny; roll d20 with each usage, rolling a 1 has the demon being spoken to reveal the ruse)

Encounter: Mr. Shark, fourth-level salaryman

Item: Boots of Froggy Hoppin’ (as if affected by the spell Jump)

Item: handful of 2d4 frogs; one of the few weapons to which size class fine creatures are susceptible, particularly when in swarms. Attack stats adapted from the Giant Frog eating people:
Swallow: The frog makes one bite Attack against a Fine target it is Grappling. If the Attack hits, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is Blinded and Restrained,
it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the frog,
and it takes 5 (2d4) acid damage at the start of each of the frog’s
turns. The frog can have only one target swallowed at a time. If the
frog dies, a swallowed creature is no longer Restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 5 ft. of Movement, exiting prone.

Encounter: He Who Had To Do It To Em; has the ability to hide in images. Respects only wielders of the sigil known as Llos-Dah-Tchëp’g, here depicted on a decorative mug of Potion of Protection Against Doing It To Em:

Item: Moss Orb; works as the spell Purify Food & Drink but the orb must come into physical contact with the object it is cleansing.

Item: Button Eyes. In exchange for permanently reducing perception and charisma by 3, you can see through all level 7 and below illusions spells. All illusion spells level 8 and above must roll separately to beat you’re perception and have disadvantage. If you are interacting with inanimate objects given life, you instead gain 3 charisma.

Item: Throbbing Yossy Bomb, a small-dog-sized squishy-vinyl dragon that incessantly pulsates; when triggered by command word, proximity, or timer (chosen by whoever sets it up), it lashes out with its tongue across a twenty-foot sphere at a rate of six times per round, capturing first every medium- or small-sized creature (with their gear) and then every inanimate object. Once the affected sphere of space has been cleared, the Yossy Bomb dissolves, leaving behind a green-spotted egg that has everything it just captured trapped inside it, as if crammed into a pocket dimension. That egg, about the size of a two-liter soda bottle, weighs about five pounds and is sturdy enough to be carried safely, releasing the trapped creatures and items only when its thick shell is broken.

Encounter: Beholder that is covered in too many eye stalks, which gives it the ability to fire off multiple eye rays but slows it down and blocks it’s central anti-magic eye.
