…This is probably less impressive in realms where it’s not unusual to have swords that eat souls or burst with black fire or cut through dimensional barriers. Seems to have been cursed by a rather feckless demon, or maybe the Jerry Gergich of warlocks.

After Big Nose George Parrott was hanged by an angry mob in 1881, Dr. John Osborn took possession of the outlaw’s remains. He studied them, hoping to find a cure for his wife’s criminal insanity, dissecting and experimenting on the corpse for a year. When he was finished, he used Parrott’s skin to make himself a fancy pair of shoes.

Osborne became the first
Democratic Governor of the State of Wyoming

in 1893, and wore his special shoes to his inauguration ball.
