More unreasonable D&D magic items: an enchanted ring that appears to grant the wearer occasional strokes of plausibly deniable good luck. What it actually does is confer upon the wearer the near-religious loyalty of a mob of small, extremely stealthy goblin-like creatures who believe that it’s their sacred duty to help the ring’s bearer without allowing their involvement to become known. This works well enough in wilderness or dungeon; problems start to arise when the wearer gets back to town for some downtime, as the ring’s minions have never been outside the dungeon and have no idea how civilisation works, but still feel obliged to help.

i love these goblins and will defend them with my life.

I want to hug them and make them little hats

Ring of Nac Mac Feegle

Item: Ring of Helpful Sneak-Goblins

Item: standard-issue Starfleet marsh melon marshmallow dispenser. Contains a rudimentary early draft of the technology that by the 2360s would become the replicator, but at this point all it can manage is the simplistic structure of marshmallows.

Encounter: Dexterity-Vampires

While awkward looking, they are incredibly sneaky; how they started out is unknown, but upon encounter they are at 7d12 Dex. They attack by slapping a character furiously with their limp fabric limbs; for each successful touch attack, they steal d4 Dexterity, adding it to their own. Whoever finally kills them gets all their Dexterity added to their own.
