Shoes Made from Human Skin
After Big Nose George Parrott was hanged by an angry mob in 1881, Dr. John Osborn took possession of the outlaw’s remains. He studied them, hoping to find a cure for his wife’s criminal insanity, dissecting and experimenting on the corpse for a year. When he was finished, he used Parrott’s skin to make himself a fancy pair of shoes.
Osborne became the first
Democratic Governor of the State of Wyomingin 1893, and wore his special shoes to his inauguration ball.
